21 Flood-Prone Areas in East Jakarta Improved

As many as 21 points of puddle and flood in East Jakarta have been repaired. The reparation is done by elevating river waterways, dredging drains and connecting channels.

Head of East Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department, Ahmad Yazied Bustomi said post-rainy season in early February, as many as 50 puddles are found in 10 sub-districts, East Jakarta. 

226 Damaged Roads Repaired

"We try to repair flood-prone areas gradually. Some rivers and drains are plastered and dredged. Thus far, its process keeps ongoing and is targeted complete this month," he stated, Tuesday (3/17). 

One of drains that have been repaired is drain as long as 100 meters located at RW 09 Malakasari, Duren Sawit. Considering, the area is often flooded with water level up to 60 cm high due to trash piles. It also led to sedimentation. 

"The drain has been dredged and widened up to 1.20 meters," he told. 

Additionally, the waterway elevation in some rivers and drains is done on Jalan Fulma RT 06-07 Makasar, Jalan SDN Pinangranti 09, and connecting channel behind the Mayasari pool in Susukan Urban Village, Ciracas. As for the waterway installation, is done in Cipinang River, Jatinegara Kaum, Pulogadung.
